Brandon Jenkins injures foot

Florida State defensive end Brandon Jenkins left Saturday's game midway through the second quarter after suffering a bruised left foot and did not return to the Seminoles' 69-3 win.

Jenkins received treatment on his foot along the sideline after limping off the field, with trainers providing crutches to take him to the locker room. The senior quickly dismissed the crutches, however, and walked to the locker room under his own power.

"We'll check it out tomorrow but it looked like it swelled pretty good," Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. "But the X-ray came back negative."

Jenkins suffered the injury when a teammate stepped on his foot during a play, but the Seminoles hardly missed a beat without him.

Jenkins, who registered a team-leading eight sacks last season, is an anchor on what is considered one of the country's top defensive lines.

Florida State's defense allowed Murray State its first points of the game -- a 28-yard field goal -- just after Jenkins departed.

Senior Cornelius Carradine replaced Jenkins on the next defensive series, he finished with nine tackles and a sack.

"It's crazy," junior defensive end Bjoern Werner said. "When one of us goes down, you're going to be replaced with a good guy because of 'Tank.' We have another guy who is pretty hungry to get some."

Junior right tackle Menelik Watson also left the game in the first half with an undisclosed injury but returned to action in the second half.
