Tommy Rees started and threw for 117 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Notre Dame's 17-14 win.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said Golson will start at Oklahoma next week.
Golson suffered a concussion late in last Saturday's win over Stanford and did not return to practice until Wednesday.
Kelly said Thursday that his starter would be a game-time decision, and said Andrew Hendrix was a possibility to play as well.
Rees has 17 career starts and has replaced Golson in two games this season because of performance. He came in for Golson last week after the redshirt freshman suffered the concussion, leading Notre Dame on its game-tying drive in regulation and game-winning drive in overtime.
Rees, a junior, was suspended for the team's opener against Navy and did not travel to Dublin because of a spring arrest.
