"He didn't take the news very well," Strong said Monday at his weekly news conference. "He was having a great season, so he was disappointed."
Perry, a junior, rushed for 705 yards and 11 touchdowns this season on 136 carries. He had three 100-yard rushing games.
Perry hurt his knee on the opening series of the Cardinals' 45-26 loss at Syracuse and did not return, carrying the ball twice for 2 yards. Ranked ninth in the BCS standings before the game, Louisville (9-1) fell to 19th on Sunday.
Jeremy Wright likely will get the bulk of the carries in Perry's absence. Wright ran 10 times for 29 yards Saturday and had six catches for 38 yards.
For the season, Wright has 680 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 148 carries and 193 receiving yards on 24 catches.
"I think we'll be OK in the running game," Strong said. "Senorise was a big part of our offense, but Jeremy Wright will take more of the load."
