Head coach Bill O'Brien on Tuesday confirmed Carter will miss Penn State's final two games after injuring his right wrist in the third quarter of Saturday's loss to Nebraska. O'Brien declined to provide details about Carter's injury.
Carter ranks second on the squad in both receptions (36) and receiving yards (453). He has two touchdown catches.
"He did a really nice job, and is a tough kid, a great kid," O'Brien said Tuesday. "He's a good guy to have on the team."
Carter is one of several tight ends to thrive in O'Brien's offense this season. Penn State now will lean on junior Matt Lehman, who ranks fourth on the team with 19 receptions for 228 yards and three touchdowns, and freshman Jesse James, who has 11 receptions for 144 yards and four touchdowns.
