SMU accepts bid to Hawaii Bowl
SMU has accepted a bid to the Hawaii Bowl.
The game is set for Dec. 24 (8 p.m. ET, ESPN) from Honolulu's Aloha Stadium.
An opponent for SMU (6-6) hasn't been determined yet, but the most likely candidate is Fresno State (9-3), co-champion of the Mountain West.
SMU is making its fourth consecutive bowl appearance under coach June Jones.
Jones says he's excited for his players, staff and fans.
Jones took SMU to the Hawaii Bowl in 2009. He coached the University of Hawaii for nine years.
To become bowl eligible, the Mustangs won four of their last six games, including Saturday's upset of Conference USA West Division champion Tulsa.
