Trevor Knight returns to practice
Knight, a redshirt freshman, started the Sooners' first two games but was injured against West Virginia on Sept. 7. He was 21 of 48 for 205 yards with four touchdown passes and three interceptions in the wins against Louisiana-Monroe and the Mountaineers. He was replaced by Blake Bell in the fourth quarter against WVU.
After a stellar performance against Tulsa, Bell will start against Notre Dame. Bell set a school record for passing yards by a quarterback in his first start with 413. He also threw for four touchdowns.
Offensive coordinator Josh Heupel said Tuesday that he didn't know if Knight or Kendal Thompson would be Bell's backup Saturday. Thompson, a redshirt sophomore, broke his foot at the beginning of preseason camp but returned to practice this month.
Stoops also said sophomore defensive end Michael Onuoha (offseason shoulder surgery) returned to practice. He could be in line for a redshirt season unless he proves himself to be a potential contributor during practice.
