Colt Lyerla doesn't travel with Oregon
Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla did not travel with the Ducks for their game at Colorado on Saturday, three weeks after he said he was upset with how coach Mark Helfrich described his absence to reporters.
Lyerla spoke out in a report after he missed the Sept. 14 game against Tennessee, saying he was unhappy that Helfrich described his stomach flu as "circumstances." Reached later at home by The Oregonian, Lyerla said he felt that description could be unfairly interpreted.
Lyerla apologized a day later for airing his frustration publicly and said he never meant to be a distraction. Both he and Helfrich say they have discussed the matter and have moved on from it. But the Ducks' official reason Lyerla wasn't traveling to Boulder was "coaches' decision."
Lyerla also did not record a catch in Oregon's game last week at home against Cal.
