3-point stance: Is Big 12 parity a good thing?

Six teams -- Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Baylor and TCU -- have won a least a share of the Big 12 title over the last six seasons.

There was a lot of buzz in Stillwater today about true freshman RB Jeff Carr and WR Jalen McCleskey, who could play significant roles for Oklahoma State’s offense this season. Ironically, they were two of the lowest-rated recruits in the Cowboys’ February signing class. OSU was Carr’s only FBS scholarship offer; McCleskey didn’t have an offer from another Power 5 program. Mike Gundy said both went under-the-radar because of their size (Carr is 5-7, 168 pounds; McCleskey, 5-10, 156). The two, however, have turned heads this preseason with their speed and playmaking (Carr is also slated to return kicks; McCleskey, punts). Both also put on enough strength over the summer to get in position to play immediately. Said Gundy, “We like where they’re at.”

Some interesting developments on Oklahoma State's depth chart including a pair of true freshmen, HB Jeff Carr and WR Jalen McCleskey, as No 1 punt and kick returners. Both freshmen have gotten plenty of preseason praise and could factor in on offense as well.

Perception isn't reality for Big 12 defenses

The measuring stick for Big 12 defenses, which face more possessions per game than other Power 5 schools, is wrong according to league coaches.
