Walk on QB Taylor Cornelius was one of the standouts during Oklahoma State's spring game, going 9 of 14 for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He's battling John Kolar (1/8, 15 yds, INT) for the backup QB spot behind Mason Rudolph. "We haven't decided yet (who it will be). Throughout the spring, John and Taylor have both played well. We've had scrimmages where John rushed for close to 100 yards." -- Oklahoma State HC Mike Gundy said. Gundy hopes to finalize a No. 2 QB by the first week of August.

"I thought the defense played really, really well." -- Oklahoma State HC Mike Gundy. The Black team, which featured several defensive starters, defeated the Orange team, led by QB Mason Rudolph and several offensive starters, by a final score of 23-7 in the Cowboys spring game.

"Fundamentally, he's improved himself. He's done a lot of work in the offseason. He's rotating his upper body really well, his footwork has improved and he's spinning the ball better than he ever has. He's worked really hard on his fundamentals." -Oklahoma State OC Mike Yurcich on QB Mason Rudolph's improvement since the end of the 2015 season. Rudolph passed for 3,770 yards and 21 touchdowns with nine interceptions as a sophomore.

With Emmanuel Ogbah, last year's co-Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, readying for the NFL draft, Oklahoma State will be relying on sophomores Jordan Brailford and Jarrell Owens to supply the production at defensive end. Both capped strong springs with notable performances in Saturday's spring game. Said coach Mike Gundy, "I like where they're at."
