Where the 2016 Big Ten signees came from

More Big Ten recruits came from Ohio and Florida than any other state in 2016, and a large majority came from the eastern schools' areas.

Lions trending down after signing day

Penn State's recruiting class was as high as No. 4 in recent weeks before falling to No. 18 in ESPN's final class ranking. That's a distant third in the Big Ten East division. Five teams reeling after NSD (Insider)

Penn State lost kicker Quinn Nordin to Michigan, officially after Jim Harbaugh slept over at the prospect's house ... in Quinn's sister's room. (The sister was not home, Harbaugh clarified.) What does Franklin think of certain coaches' more unique recruiting strategies? "We want to be creative, not creepy," he said.

Former Penn State RB Akeel Lynch has signed on with Nevada as a graduate transfer, Nevada announced Wednesday morning. Lynch's role in the PSU offense greatly diminished with the rise of Saquon Barkley and might've become virtually nonexistent in 2016 with Andre Robinson coming off a redshirt and Miles Sanders signing his NLI. Good move by both Lynch and Nevada.

Penn State's first NLOI is in, and how appropriate that it's from the class headliner: ESPN 300 DE Shane Simmons, the No. 14 overall recruit in the nation. He's been committed since the summer of 2014, and it shouldn't be too long before this kid makes an impact in Happy Valley.

ESPN 300 LB Brendan Ferns kicks off National Signing Day by announcing his commitment to West Virginia. Picked the Mountaineers over Penn State. PSU definitely could've used Ferns to add some quality to a position lacking in depth, but James Franklin could still add a few commits today.
