No. 8 Florida survives a scare but what will the College Football Playoff selection committee make of the way the Gators looked in its 20-14 OT win over a 2-8 (now 2-9) FAU team? The Gators have to win their remaining games, including the SEC title game, to have a shot at crashing the playoff party but struggling to beat two-win Conference USA squad doesn't look good when comparing the Gators to other 1-loss teams out there.

Jake McGee danced around a pair of Florida Atlantic defenders to score on the Gators' first drive of OT, but the Gators missed the extra point. FAU tries to answer on SEC Network.

No. 8 Florida-Florida Atlantic headed to OT

Florida Atlantic is 2-8, so it would be the worst team to defeat an AP Top-10 opponent in November or later since 1978 when 2-8 Baylor upset No. 9 Texas. Watch the finish on SEC Network, WatchESPN

It's getting real for No. 8 Florida. A sack/fumble by FAU of Florida QB Treon Harris was recovered in the end zone by Ocie Rose for an Owl touchdown and the Gators are fighting for their playoff lives in the fourth quarter, tied 14-14 with FAU. Florida punted on the ensuing possession so FAU has a chance to take a lead on this possession.

FAU ties Florida with fumble recovery TD

Trey Hendrickson recovered Treon Harris' fumble in the end zone as Florida Atlantic is tied with No. 8 Florida at 14 midway through the fourth quarter.

FAU hanging around against Florida

Sharrod Neasman picked off Treon Harris in the end zone to stop a Gators drive. No. 8 Florida leads Florida Atlantic 14-7 in the fourth quarter.

FAU still hanging tough in Gainesville. A 9-play, 75-yard scoring drive that took 7:55 was capped by a 10-yard TD pass from Jaquez Johnson to Kalib Woods. The Owls trail No. 8 Florida 14-7 with 2:06 to go in the third. Florida will have to keep the foot on the gas offensively or risk this game hanging in the balance in the fourth quarter.

Gators score again on long TD connection

Treon Harris found Antonio Callaway for a 53-yard score, as No. 8 Florida now leads Florida Atlantic 14-0 in the third quarter.
