Ouch! Owls again in Bottom 10

Florida Atlantic lost to Buffalo last week. The Owls have landed in the Bottom 10 because of it, but it may have been foretold by nature. Find out why here

Owls not at rock bottom . . . yet

The Owls are 0-2, but the losses weren't so heinous that FAU was crowned the Bottom 10 winner. That said, there are only nine schools that separate them from the worst-in-college-football title. Who else is in the Bottom 10?

Miami avoided what would have been an awful loss with a big second half, beating Florida Atlantic 44-20. Joseph Yearby set career highs with 146 yards receiving and 97 yards rushing and scored twice, while Herb Waters went over 100 yards receiving. Miami needs to do better up front and on third down with Nebraska coming next week.

The game has been far from masterful, but Miami has finally pulled away from FAU and leads 37-20 going into the fourth quarter. The Canes scored 10 points off two third-quarter turnovers and have gotten over 200 yards from Joe Yearby -- the highlight of the night by far.

Despite playing with backup quarterback Jason Driskel, FAU had outgained Miami 292-234 as the Canes cling to a 20-17 halftime lead. Miami has scored three points off two turnovers and has been pushed around on both the offensive and defensive lines. The first-half performance has only served to wake up Al Golden's critics.

Florida Atlantic has moved at will on the Miami defense behind backup quarterback Jason Driskel, little brother to Louisiana Tech QB Jeff Driskel. Jason Driskel has led consecutive scoring drives in place of injured starter Jaquez Johnson, allowing the Owls to tie Miami at 17.
