Deshaun Watson was asked whether he got star struck meeting anyone over the last 6 months. "Rihanna," he said with a big smile. "I was pretty hyped about that." The two met at a restaurant while he was training in Los Angeles and she was on her tour. Did she know who he was? "I hope so!" Watson said with a laugh.

When Deshaun Watson scores, the Clemson QB might want to hand the ball off to a teammate for the celebration. Or stick with the Dab.

Clemson and Florida State both figure to be preseason top-five teams, and their Oct. 29 game is seen as a de facto playoff game. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said he believes two teams from the same conference could make the playoff, but it would require unusual circumstances. He referenced LSU winning it all in 2007 with two losses, one in the regular-season finale.

Deshaun Watson is wearing four pins on his blazer at ACC Kickoff: a Clemson paw, Heisman Trophy finalist pin, Davey O'Brien pin and one that says Ferro Retro, a clothing line teammate Marcus Edmond has. Its tag line is "Define Yourself."

Ben Boulware has talked with former Clemson LB Stephone Anthony about improving his diet. Boulware played the national championship game at 248, and said he needed to get quicker after watching the film. His goal is to be at 234 by the start of the season.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says he nearly hired new Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente as his offensive coordinator back in 2011, before ultimately choosing Chad Morris. He says they remain friends.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney: "I'm a much better coach with Deshaun Watson than I am without him."

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Deshaun Watson asked about Nick Saban saying he's the best player to play Bama since Cam Newton: "It's cool to have that. I thank Nick Saban for the compliment. But at the same time I've got to go earn it. This year's a new year."

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says it's one thing to dream, it's another to experience. He thinks the good and bad from last season will benefit players this year, because they now know what it takes.

Matt Fortuna ESPN Staff Writer

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney opened today by saying he's happy to be here, because it means he's made it another year with the Tigers. Asked about that perspective, he says there's no job security in what coaches do. He says if Bobby Bowden can be shown the door, he's not naive to the fact that it can happen to him some day too.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson is looking forward to having receiver Mike Williams return after missing last season with a neck injury. "He's a freak athlete. Loves to work. Loves to compete. He's going to make the people around him better," Watson said.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney turns sharply to Ben Boulware: "Although we may be *different* ... we can still be unified and love one another."

Clemson QB Deshaun Watson just watched The Purge, but after a minute in the virtual reality dark room he was feeling unafraid and no longer on edge. He left him some vulnerable and should have kept his head on a swivel.
