Breaking down ACC Coastal receiver recruiting

Of the 29 prospects in the ESPN 300 committed to ACC schools, six are receivers. After the conference inked just six of the 53 pass-catchers in the 2016 ESPN 300, the conference is enjoying an uptick early in this cycle with the needs within the conference a plenty.

After he spoke at a jobs summit in Orlando, Fla., Miami coach Mark Richt was asked about Art Briles losing his job at Baylor. "I don't know why but I read a lot about the Penn State case," Richt said. "It caught my interest, and obviously it was very important to college football at the time. But this one in particular, I've not read one sentence other than a headline all along. You knew something was cooking; you didn't know what. I don't have any details of it, but I just know it's a sad time for a lot of people."

Miami coach Mark Richt confirmed he has pledged $1 million toward the construction of a proposed indoor football facility. "We do need it," Richt said Thursday. "I love my university, and I want people to understand I'm committed to making it great. We need to help raise the funds to get it done, and I'm hoping it will energize people to know that it needs to be done. I'm not just giving lip service to it, that I truly believe it and I'm willing to invest my life in a lot of ways and our resources, too."

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher, Florida coach Jim McElwain and Miami coach Mark Richt joined Florida Governor Rick Scott on a panel about leadership at a jobs summit in Orlando, Fla. Scott asked the coaches which state school would win the next national championship. "Florida State," Fisher said. "Chomp chomp," McElwain said. "We're working on getting a first down right now," Richt said to laughter.

Miami coach Mark Richt has pledged $1M of his own money toward construction of a proposed indoor practice facility, a source confirmed to ESPN's Andrea Adelson. Richt told boosters during a meeting in Chicago last week that he had pledged his own money, the Palm Beach Post first reported.

Would Jimbo Fisher ever bolt Florida State?

The Seminoles might be lower on this list of ACC coaching stability than you'd expect, especially if the LSU job comes open at some point.

Take 2: Should ACC rivalries have set dates?

The ACC has its rivalry week at the end of the season when a number of conference teams play nonconference opponents, but is that enough?

Not surprisingly, satellite camps were a hot topic of discussion among ACC coaches during spring meetings Tuesday. Most schools will be participating in them now that they are allowed, simply to keep up with others. Florida State and Miami are considering the possibilities. Only two schools have decided not to participate: Clemson and North Carolina.

Travis Haney ESPN Staff Writer

Miami coach Mark Richt said Monday that he's still undecided whether his program will take part in satellite camps. He did rule out the idea of Miami hosting camps involving any other programs. The first-year UM coach said he is concerned about the hours assistant coaches will log as the number of camps increase. He also said that he doesn't like that the camps involve "illegal contact during a non-contact period." "They're recruiting camps," he said. "That's what they are."

How big could the ACC be?

In the spirit of conference expansion chatter, our Ryan McGee has an idea. He shook up the ACC, added four schools and flipped the divisions to help create a more balanced CFB map. Which teams are in which division? Flipping the field
