A lot of folks in the media have speculated Texas and Texas A&M could benefit big time from Baylor signees if they get released from their national letter-of-intent, but several recruiters told me today TCU could be the biggest beneficiary. Quite a few of Baylor's 2016 recruits had the Horned Frogs as finalists.

Now we know why Texas fired defensive backs coach Chris Vaughn in February. Vaughn is accused of multiple Level I violations in the NCAA's notice of allegations that Ole Miss released Friday morning. Vaughn, an assistant for the Rebels from 2008-11, reportedly engaged in an ACT fraud scheme for three recruits in 2010. He's also accused of helping provide impermissible benefits and lying to NCAA investigators.

It remains unclear whether Texas will support Big 12 expansion. But one Texas mega-booster apparently is. San Antonio billionaire Red McCombs told ESPN radio in San Antonio that he is in favor of the Big 12 expanding back to 12 teams, provided one of those teams is Houston. "I think we need to add two teams to the Big 12 and should have done it two years ago. The first one should be the University of Houston then it would be your choice of several others." The Big 12 presidents and athletic directors are scheduled to convene in Irving, Texas, next week to discuss, among other topics, expansion.
