Virginia Tech defensive end Ken Ekanem has some lofty goals for this season. "I want to leave the school with 30 sacks, so I've got 16 more to go," he said. That would require Ekanem is average more than a sack a game. "It's doable," he said. "Vic Beasley was up there doing that. I've just got to make it happen. Can't think about it too much."

All-ACC receiver Isaiah Ford has been limited in spring practice at Virginia Tech as a precautionary measure more than anything. The Hokies don't want to risk injury to their best returning offensive player. So what has Ford been doing during practice? He's out there wearing a blue jersey and helping his teammates. "The most important thing is mental reps," Ford said. "And helping the freshmen with any mistakes that I see them make."

Hokies rename locker room in honor of Beamer

Virginia Tech will change the name of its football team's locker room from "Team United Locker Room" to "The Frank Beamer Locker Room" in honor of the longtime Hokies coach who retired in 2015.
