Texas Tech has removed LB Dakota Allen from the team, "due to a failure to uphold student-athlete expectations." Allen was Tech's top returning tackler from last year, which is a blow for a defense that was among the nation's worst in 2015 at stopping the run. Offensive linemen Robert Castaneda and Trace Ellison were also dismissed.

Indianapolis Colts third round pick Le'Raven Clark started all 51 games of his Texas Tech career. The former Red Raiders offensive tackle was part of an offensive line that allowed just 27 sacks. Fun fact: Clark scored two 2-point conversions in 2015, running in a lateral against Kansas on a designed play then catching a batted Patrick Mahomes pass and converting against Oklahoma State.
