A rough season gets even rougher for South Carolina after dropping a 23-22 affair to The Citadel. Losing at home to an FCS team -- albeit a good one -- is not what interim coach Shawn Elliott had in mind. On the flip side, credit to Citadel coach Mike Houston and his group, who broke a 27-game losing streak to FBS teams and probably secured itself an at-large bid in the FCS playoffs with the win.

Wow. The Citadel stops South Carolina on 4th-and-1. Bulldogs' ball with 4:07 left and a 23-22 lead. Given the way the Gamecocks' defense has defended the run today (337 yards allowed), they may not get the ball back.

Nice homecoming for The Citadel RB Tyler Renew. The Columbia, S.C., native has 21 carries for a game-high 168 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown with 6:07 left to give the Bulldogs a 23-22 lead over the Gamecocks

Looks like it could be a fun finish in Columbia. Pharoh Cooper's 41-yard TD catch from Perry Orth gives South Carolina a 22-17 lead. The Gamecocks went for two but failed. There's 8:40 left, a lot of football remaining.

The Citadel takes the lead

The Bulldogs' kicker, Eric Goins, snuck this 48-yard FG through the uprights. South Carolina trails in the fourth quarter, 17-16.
