Georgia Southern's Willie Fritz has reached a verbal agreement to be Tulane's coach, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy and media reports. The school is expected to officially announce the hire today.

Tulane coach Curtis Johnson has been fired after going 3-9 for the second straight season. The New Orleans native went 15-34 in four seasons at Tulane.

Tulane has fired football coach Curtis Johnson after three losing seasons in four years. Tulane lost to Tulsa on Friday night after a stunning 4th-quarter rally to finish 3-9 on the season.

Tulsa stopped Tulane's potential go-ahead drive in dramatic fashion, as Kolton Shindelar picked off Jordy Joseph's pass and took it back 89 yards for a Tulsa TD to increase the lead to 45-34 late in the fourth quarter.
