10 thoughts on Big 12's 2016 schedule

This year, the Big 12 wound up with a brutally backloaded schedule; next season, that won't be the case.

One of the overlooked stars of the Big 12 over the weekend was West Virginia CB Terrell Chestnut. The senior forced a fumble on Kansas first possession then returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown on the Jayhawks second possession to spark a 28-point first quarter during West Virginias 49-0 road win. Chestnut has been one of the conferences top cornerbacks this season.

West Virginia had 3 players surpass 100 rushing yards against Kansas. Skyler Howard (129 yards), Wendell Smallwood (115) and Rushel Shell (108) combined for 5 TDs and could've done more damage had they not been pulled in the 3rd quarter. They became WVU's first 100-yard trio since 1938.

Rout is on in Lawrence

West Virginia RB Wendell Smallwood breaks tackles and hammers a 24-yard rushing TD to extend the Mountaineers' lead to 28 (after the extra point) against Kansas in the first quarter.

WVU with a pick-6 to extend lead

CB Terrell Chestnut returned a pick 32 yards for a TD. West Virginia came in today's matchup against Kansas leading the Big 12 in interceptions. The Mountaineers are up 21-0 over the Jayhawks. Follow live

Kansas is already well on its way to starting this season 0-11. West Virginia RB Rushel Shell has two rushing TDs and CB Terrell Chestnut nabbed a 32-yard pick six to make it 21-0 midway through the first quarter in Lawrence.

Holgorsen rocks out

Usually it's the treatment reserved for the frontmen of famous rock bands, but Dana Holgorsen got to bodysurf following a 38-20 win over Texas. It landed in Mark Schlabach's best moments of the week. GameDay Final
