West Virginia just might sneak into the top 25 before this season's over. The Mountaineers have won four in a row after starting 0-4 in Big 12 play and can improve to 8-4 with a win over Kansas State next week. Their defense was dominant again Saturday, holding Iowa State to 6 points and 3.5 yards per play.

Emotions will run high today in Morgantown as coach Paul Rhoads is coaching his final game at Iowa State. In his only other visit to WVU, Iowa State won a 52-46 game in 3 OTs back in 2013. Could we get similar drama today?

10 thoughts on Big 12's 2016 schedule

This year, the Big 12 wound up with a brutally backloaded schedule; next season, that won't be the case.

One of the overlooked stars of the Big 12 over the weekend was West Virginia CB Terrell Chestnut. The senior forced a fumble on Kansas first possession then returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown on the Jayhawks second possession to spark a 28-point first quarter during West Virginias 49-0 road win. Chestnut has been one of the conferences top cornerbacks this season.

West Virginia had 3 players surpass 100 rushing yards against Kansas. Skyler Howard (129 yards), Wendell Smallwood (115) and Rushel Shell (108) combined for 5 TDs and could've done more damage had they not been pulled in the 3rd quarter. They became WVU's first 100-yard trio since 1938.
