Illinois defensive coordinator Hardy Nickerson said today his son, Hardy, will join the Illini as a graduate transfer linebacker in July after finishing summer school at Cal. "We had a chance to talk about two weeks ago and had a pretty good discussion," the elder Nickerson said. "It was totally his decision. He wanted to make the change and come here. ... He's a leader and he has a knack for just making plays." The younger Nickerson knows the scheme as he played in a version of it for his father as a high school player.
