ESPN 25 Power Rankings: Week: 16

After games of March 9

The past week in hardwood action was highlighted by a pair of historic wins and collapses by two top-15 squads.

Let's start off by giving some props to No. 13 Iowa City West and 14th-ranked Germantown, both of which punctuated the winter with state crowns. The wins completed back-to-back championship campaigns and extended the team's hefty win streaks (Iowa City 52 wins, Germantown 56).

On the flip side, St. Anthony and Lake Oswego each had their championship runs halted, finishing their long tenures as ranked teams. St. Anthony lost a stunner in the state finals, ending a run of more than two seasons in the polls, while upstart Lake Oswego was bounced in Class 6A. Replacing the two are Texas state champ Fort Bend Travis as well as Carmel, which has advanced to Saturday's Indiana state semis.

Whitney Young also fell victim to an early playoff exit out in Chicago but holds onto a spot in the rankings by virtue of its 8-3 mark against ranked squads. We'll see where the team finishes in the final poll.

Tuesday night's Long Beach Poly-Mater Dei contest will have big implications on next week's rankings as one team could find its way back in the top 10.

Note: This poll is compiled weekly by the RecruitingNation staff. Every high school team is eligible to be ranked as long as its roster does not include any fifth-year seniors.
