Rice cruising against Xavier, 11-1
Diego Seastrunk has punctuated the Owls' 13-hit attack with a two singles, a homer and three RBIs.
The Owls have already pounded out seven extra-base hits against three Xavier pitchers. It's the most runs scored against the Musketeers since a 19-3 loss to Cincinnati on April 29.
After struggling early, 6-foot-6 Rice starter Jared Rogers has settled down to allow only three hits for the first five innings. Rogers has stayed ahead of most counts, striking out three and walking one in a strong 60-pitch effort so far.
The Owls appear well on their way for a rematch with Kansas State in tonight's 7 p.m. game. The Wildcats battled back for a tight 7-6 victory over the Owls Saturday night, snapping their 13-game winning streak in NCAA regional games.
The longer that Rogers pitches, the better it will be for the Owls' beleaguered bullpen.
