TEMPE, Ariz. -- Clemson went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first, with Arizona State pitcher Josh Spence looking sharp with a pair of K's.

And for the second consecutive night, Clemson failed to score in the first inning. Entering the series, the Tigers had scored 77 runs in the first, more than any other inning.

And the Sun Devils have allowed just 11 first-inning runs this year.
