Speaking with ESPN's Erin Andrews just before the start of the fifth inning, Virginia coach Brian O'Connor said his he felt his team was getting good contact on a lot of balls but they just weren't dropping for hits.

He spoke too soon.

Steven Proscia's solo home run tied the game at 3-3. After Tyler Cannon and John Hicks each followed with singles, Keith Werman's single scored Cannon, giving the Cavaliers a 4-3 lead, forcing the Tigers to take out Paul Bertuccini and replace him with Austin Ross. Ross managed to get the Tigers out of the inning but the damage was done.
