Virginia grabs 4-3 lead in fifth inning

June, 13, 2009
Speaking with ESPN's Erin Andrews just before the start of the fifth inning, Virginia coach Brian O'Connor said he felt his team was getting good contact on a lot of balls but they just weren't dropping for hits.

He spoke too soon.

With one out in the top of the fifth, Steven Proscia's solo home run tied the game at 3.

After Tyler Cannon and John Hicks each followed with singles, Keith Werman's single scored Cannon, giving the Cavaliers a 4-3 lead, forcing the Tigers to take out Paul Bertuccini and replace him with Austin Ross. Ross managed to get the Tigers out of the inning but the damage was done as the Tigers try to regain the lead in the bottom of the inning.
