OMAHA, Neb. -- Kyle Winkler had a nightmare day at the College World Series, but at least for his sake it was short.

The TCU starter was pulled after just making nine pitches against UCLA. In those nine pitches, he hit a batter, allowed a single and gotten taken deep for a three-run home run by Blair Dunlap. Ouch.

The Horned Frogs struck first in the top of the first off Trevor Bauer, as Bryan Holaday hit a solo homer. Holaday has eight hits and three homers in the World Series, most of any player.

But coach Jim Schlossnagle has to be second-guessing his decision to start Winkler, who also got rocked by the Bruins in the first meeting between these two clubs.

One other note: Rosenblatt Stadium isn't even half full for this game, which is curious at a place known to stuff the stands just about every day.
