After games of Oct. 6
The college football landscape saw a few top-ranked teams fall this past weekend, but stability was the theme in high school football, with the ESPN 25 Power Rankings remaining status quo for the first week all season.
The top teams continued to cement their rankings, especially No. 1 Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), which earned an impressive shutout victory in its first game without injured star quarterback Johnny Stanton, out for the season with an ACL tear.
As for the rest of the top 5, No. 2 Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) continued to make its case for the top spot, No. 3 Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) rolled over another opponent, No. 4 Bellevue (Wash.) put up 70 points and No. 5 John Curtis (River Ridge, La.) cruised.
