ESPN 150 running back Elijah Hood (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) took a visit this weekend, and that was all it took.

"Officially committing to The University of Notre Dame!" the nation's No. 8 running back wrote Sunday on Twitter after visiting South Bend, Ind.

"Thanks for all the help and for following me on my college decision process!! See you guys around!!" he wrote in a text message.

Hood, a four-star prospect ranked No. 49 overall in the ESPN 150, chose the Fighting Irish over his other top choice, North Carolina. He also had been considering Georgia and Virginia Tech, and held offers from more than 20 top Division I programs, including Clemson, FSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan and Ohio State.

Last season he rushed for a Mecklenburg County-record 3,309 yards and scored 48 touchdowns as the Cougars finished as Class 3AA state runners-up.
