Bryant stuns No. 2 Syracuse

Bryant, which just four days earlier won a play-in game against Siena, stunned No. 2 overall seed Syracuse 10-9 in the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament at the Carrier Dome on Sunday.

Bulldogs goalie Gunnar Waldt made a stop on Syracuse's Dylan Donahue in the final second to seal the win. He had 13 saves, and freshman Tucker James had four goals on four shots and added two assists.

"There are so many layers to this win," Bryant coach Mike Pressler said, according to bryantbulldogs.com. "Not only was it Syracuse at Syracuse -- one of the most storied programs in Division I history -- but we did it after playing a play-in game on Wednesday. To beat Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on four short days is a monumental win for our program."

For the Orange, it was just the third loss in 27 postseason games at the Carrier Dome. Kevin Rice had a hat trick for Syracuse.

Bryant will face seventh-seeded Maryland in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
