Southland's Tom Burnett re-signs
FRISCO, Texas -- Southland Conference commissioner Tom Burnett has a contract extension through the 2015-16 season.
The league said Monday that Burnett had "effectively managed" the changes brought by Division I conference realignment. A 14-member conference will debut next year after the league expanded to 12 teams in 2006.
Burnett is in his 10th year as Southland commissioner, the second-longest tenure in league history. He joined the conference after 11 years on the Sun Belt staff.
