Shaun McGee picks in-state Dawgs
Shaun McGee on UGA commitment
Tack on another commitment for the University of Georgia. And while this latest addition might not have come Friday, it pretty much is a direct result of Dawg Night.
After taking a trip Sunday to check out Alabama, McGee returned Monday to Athens so his mom could get a good look at the Bulldogs' program. It seems that they both liked what they saw, as McGee gave his commitment in a phone call to head coach Mark Richt while on campus. Richt is out of town.
"I am officially committed to UGA," said McGee following his visit. "This was the offer I always wanted. The coaches were just as excited as I was and I am 100 percent committed and ready to focus on winning a ring for Brookwood and some more rings in Athens."
Moments after earning the offer, McGee had a good idea of where he wanted to go, but wanted to take one last visit to be sure of his decision. And it was important to McGee that his mother have the chance to learn as much as possible about Georgia.
"I went up to Alabama really to support my teammate while he camped at Alabama," McGee said. "They tried to say some things, nothing bad, but my mind was already set on Georgia."

"I felt like I had the right feeling about the place," McGee said. "It felt like home, it is close to my home and my family, and it is a chance to play for Mark Richt and an elite program like the University of Georgia that also provides a world class education, so you cannot really go wrong with that."
McGee played all over the field for the Broncos last season, spending time at fullback, nose guard and defensive end. His versatility will likely carry over at the college level in Georgia's 3-4 defense.
The addition of McGee gives Georgia 22 commitments for the 2013 class, and three defensive commitments since Friday. The Bulldogs have a strong chance to add another one Tuesday as safety Paris Bostick (Tampa, Fla./Plant), another Dawg Night standout, plans to announce his decision at 2 p.m. ET at his high school.
