CB Richardson excels in coverage

Editor's note: WolverineNation recruiting editor Tom VanHaaren will rank the Wolverines' commitments from 10-1 according to the importance of each to the 2012 roster. Prospect No. 8 is cornerback Terry Richardson.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Terry Richardson is a much-needed asset for Michigan at cornerback. The Wolverines secondary is thin on talent and lacking game experience. The knock on him is his size -- 5-foot-9, 160 pounds -- but with offers from Alabama, Iowa, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC it's safe to say that what he lacks in size he makes up for with his play.

The Detroit Cass Tech senior is an aggressive corner who is always around the ball. Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison is looking for a defense that hunts the ball, and that's something Richardson does well. He can play man or zone and is pretty savvy for a high school defensive back.
