Did you know: Baylor went 10-3 against what the NCAA ranked as the ninth toughest schedule in 2011. The Bears will play eight games against 2011 bowl teams in 2012. Baylor has the nation's third longest win streak as well with six games.
Three things to watch
The new QB: Florence has experience at quarterback. He was started seven games back in 2009 and completed 62 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and nine interceptions. The stats were not great, and in comparison to RGIII, were downright paltry. Also possibly hindering Florence is that expectations around the Baylor program have risen dramatically since then. So he will have a lot of pressure squarely on top of his shoulders.
The new weapon: Lache Seastrunk should provide some spark to the Baylor offense in the running game. Seastrunk is a transfer from Oregon. The once heralded recruit was buried on the Ducks' depth chart and left the program in August of 2011. The former prep All-American appears as if he will fit into the spread offense of the Bears.
Takeaways key: Phil Bennett's defense figured out to take the ball away from its opponents. The Bears totaled 29 takeaways, including one in each game. But the defense could not figure out to stop any team that held onto the ball. The Bears were 116th in overall defense. And it no longer has its best defensive players on the line, Nicolas Jean-Baptiste and Tracy Robertson.
