Stein and Missouri next face La. Tech on Saturday.
Welcome to the ESPN.com moderated chat room. On Thursday, Missouri women's head basketball coach Cindy Stein hit chat to talk about the NCAA women's hoop tournament and getting her team to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.

In just her third season at the helm of the Tigers, Stein guided her team to a 20-9 regular season record and a No. 10 seed in the East region of the NCAA Tournament. In the first two rounds, Missouri beat Wisconsin 71-68 and upset No. 2 seed Georgia 78-65 to become just the third No. 10 seed to upset a No. 2 seed in tournament history.

Last season, the Tigers re-wrote the record books finishing the year with an 18-12 record-Mizzou's winningest season since 1992-93. The Tigers also climbed two spots up the Big 12 championship ladder to finish seventh with a 7-9 conference record despite being predicted to finish ninth by Big 12 coaches in the preseason polls during the 1999-2000 campaign. Stein came to MU from Emporia State University, where she was head coach from 1995-98. She guided the Lady Hornets to a 65-25 record and took ESU to the NCAA Division II tournament in 1997 and 1998.

I am ready for your questions!
Dave in Columbia from [128.206.17.152], at 12:02pm ET
Hey coach Stein, good job so far. I was wondering, how you keep the girls so relaxed out there? What they have been doing is huge and has been noticed back in TigerTown. Good luck against the Lady Techsters. We'll all be rooting for ya.
Cindy Stein at 12:03pm ET
Thanks Dave. I think the key for us has been to make sure we are having fun. We think working hard and seeing the results is fun. It is a geat game basketball. All the girls have a passion for the game. They are enjoying the moment.

Do you think it would be a tight game between your team and the Lady Techsters this Saturday.
Cindy Stein at 12:05pm ET
Well Rod I wouldn't say it would be tight. You have two teams that desperately want to win. It will be a real defensive battle. It is so hard to predict what kind of game it will be. They are very physical. We have to play very team-oriented game. You never hope it will be tight you always want to pull away!
Deborah Lovin from [208.180.253.166], at 12:05pm ET
Hi Coach Stein,
As you prepare to face the Lady Techsters, what are you stressing, that is the most important key to your team winning?
Cindy Stein at 12:06pm ET
Right now we are stressing to concentrate on maintaining the fundamentals. We have to stay grounded with all the new exposure we've been getting and the demands on our time. We have to stay focused on the gameplan. Defense is always key as is rebounding. We are emphasizing crashing the boards.
MizzouPride from [128.206.234.250], at 12:07pm ET
Coach Stein!! I am a fan of Lady Tiger basketball and I go to all the games that I can. I personally feel that the team has been under-rated throughout most of the year. What are you thoughts on that?
Cindy Stein at 12:08pm ET
We have always had a good team, finsihing fifth in the conference with our conf. being so strong. I understand how that has happened. Some teams played a more high profile schedule than us. Our kids deserve more recognition but if you work hard your actions will pay off.
Darius from [204.73.55.10], at 12:08pm ET
Do you think with the help of your victory over Georgia, that the national media is starting to pay more attention to some of the other solid programs out there rather than just the Tennesee's and Connecticut's?

Cindy Stein at 12:09pm ET
Absolutely. Not just us but there is NC State, Southwest Missouri, Iowa St. and on and on. Lots of teams can challenge for a national championship. There are so many great teams that nobody has heard of.
Woof from [128.143.135.52], at 12:09pm ET
Coach Stien,
Amazing win last weekends. Are you concern about playing 2 games in 3 days considering your lack of depth?
Cindy Stein at 12:10pm ET
Well, if you look at the number of kids Louisiana Tech has played it is very similar. Most teams aren't going real deep. We did the same thing in beating Wisconsin and Georgia. It's tournament time! You buckle up and go or you get run over. We have some inexperience going in but I would still feel confident going deeper.
LadyBearFan from [205.188.192.179], at 12:11pm ET
Great season, Coach! We are rooting for your team down in SW MO. Any chance that the Mizzou ladies might match up with the SMS Lady Bears next year?
Cindy Stein at 12:12pm ET
Next year, es they are on our schedule. We have a four year contract starting next year. We will start at home next year.
Myles El Paso, TX from [198.26.123.38], at 12:12pm ET
Coach Stein, You hear about "Super Conferences", "Power Conferences", and "Mid-Majors", et al. Does strength of schedule condemn conferences of lesser stated stature to never move up in title?
Cindy Stein at 12:14pm ET
I feel as though strenght of schedule is huge when it comes down to NCAA tourney selections. It will be a significant factor that they review. If you play in a lower profile conf, or a mid-conf. that strength is very big for them. Us having to play in the Big 12 it is built in already! You try to pepper those quality teams into your non-conf. sked to enhance it even more.
Jeff Gusky from [128.206.104.10], at 12:14pm ET
Having the large media presence in Mizzou's favor now, how well do you think Mizzou's Women's Basketball program looks next year and after? Go Tigers!
Cindy Stein at 12:16pm ET
That will be a good question! Obviously losing Lassiter, Franklin, etc. those are huge shoes to fill. Our youth has gained lots of experience though. The key factor will be what they do this summer to improve. It's what your players do in the offseason, they can sit around and get fat or go out and get better. Amanda Lassiter made hereself a better player over the summer. The good still have to get better. But we feel condifent. We have a great recruiting class.
JJMizzou from [152.163.206.193], at 12:16pm ET
Hey Coach: Congratulations on your success. Keep it up. We finally have some ammunition down here to shut up these Lady Bear fans' mouths. I'm most impressed with your full-court press. Is that part of your gameplan -- to generate points off turnovers?
Cindy Stein at 12:17pm ET
First I would say it is really neat the state of Missouri has two great teams. A lot of our defensive principles come from my days at Illinois. Defense is the key to anybody's success. You can't win a championsip without it. We like to generate those points if we can but you can't rely on it. We try to take the other team out of what they want to do.
Coach Speak from [205.188.192.157], at 12:18pm ET
Will Amanda Lassiter get drafted in the WNBA?
Cindy Stein at 12:18pm ET
I would be very surprised if she didn't get a look. We have had lots of WNBA folks here watching us play so I would say it is very likely.
Jerry Davis from [146.7.120.167], at 12:19pm ET
Who would you consider the unsung hero of your team?
Cindy Stein at 12:21pm ET
I would give that to three people; Marlena Williams, Kerensa Barr, and Natalie Bright They have been huge for us, very solid play.

Thanks for all the questions and paying attention to the University of Missouri. We have a fine academic institution and some of the best athletic teams in the country. Keep your fingers crossed the rest of the way!!!
