What to watch in the ACC: Week 1

You've waited long enough for the season, so we won't waste any more time or ink. Here five storylines the ACC Blog will be watching this week.

The ACC still runs through Florida State

Three of the top four ACC games this season will feature the Seminoles, including road tests at Clemson and Georgia Tech. Which other games made our must-see list? Top 10 ACC games

A week before the season opener, Florida State still doesn't have a starting quarterback, a stark contrast to the last several years with the likes of Christian Ponder, E.J. Manuel and Jameis Winston. Coach Jimbo Fisher said he will name a starter when he is ready, and that might be after the Week 1 game against Texas State. Everett Golson and Sean Maguire are still competing.

Baylor victim hires Title IX lawyer from FSU case

The woman who accused former Baylor defensive end Sam Ukwuachu of raping her in 2013 has hired a Title IX law firm to represent her in potential civil litigation.

Former five-star Josh Sweat will play in Florida State's season opener less than a year after an ACL tear and knee dislocation. Sweat was once the No. 1 high school player in the country and he could be the answer to FSU's anemic pass rush. The Seminoles finished 108th in sacks last year and lost two second-round picks from that D-line. If Sweat lives up to the hype, the Seminoles could bounce back toward the top of the defensive rankings, which will help a transitioning offense.

With a little more than a week before the season starts, Florida State still hasn't named its starting QB. Whether it's Everett Golson or Sean Maguire, though, the winner of the QB derby has a stable of running backs that will help facilitate the aerial attack by forcing defenses to respect the FSU rushing attack. Dalvin Cook (4) is an elite RB, and the staff is high on Mario Pender (7). But it is powerful true freshman Jacques Patrick (9) who has sent teammates in a frenzy after running players over.

No one said the trip to see the wizard would be easy. Florida State's yellow brick road, a motivational ploy by coach Jimbo Fisher, is getting a little chewed up outside the Seminoles' practice facility. The sixth-year coach has played coy when asked the meaning of the road and what the Seminoles must do to reach the wizard, who remains unidentified.

Florida State has shuffled the right side of its offensive line in preseason camp looking for the right combination and consistency, but right guard Wilson Bell said the unit would be ready to play if there was a game Saturday. The Seminoles are replacing four players -- all now in the NFL -- from last season's offensive line.

Maurice Clarett, who played just 11 games at Ohio State before off-the-field troubles ended a promising career, cautioned Seminoles players about their potential future. "We can't rent to you because you're a convicted felon. But do you mind if we take a picture real quick because you're Maurice Clarett?" His rehabilitation story

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

Maurice Clarett never intended to share his story. Now he's connecting with college football players around the country. I followed him to Florida State and Alabama and learned why his message is so important: http://es.pn/1LwtInr
