Arizona has No. 24 farm system in 2016

The Snakes have two good pitching prospects, two decent hitting prospects, then a big drop-off. The college arms they took last year could surprise and develop into top-five prospects in the system -- or look like busts by next winter. Ranking all 30 farm systems (Insider)

Good pickup by the Diamondbacks to sign Tyler Clippard for some bullpen depth. Yes, there are concerns that he looked tired at the end of 2015 and his overall strikeout rate was down a bit. But he's been a durable, steady reliever and his velocity did hold steady throughout the season. He should pay some nice dividends.

Diamondbacks add Clippard to bolster bullpen

The Diamondbacks bolstered their bullpen Monday by agreeing to a two-year contract with reliever Tyler Clippard. The deal is worth $12.25 million, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Jerry Crasnick ESPN Senior Writer

Free agent reliever Tyler Clippard is getting close to a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks, says a baseball source. Clippard struggled in September and in the postseason with the Mets. But he leads MLB relievers with 440 appearances since 2010, and he looks like another upgrade to an Arizona pitching staff that added starters Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller earlier this offseason.

Strikeout mark in reach for four

While no active pitchers are likely to reach 3,000 strikeouts this year, a handful should get to 2,000. Justin Verlander (needs 57), Cole Hamels (78) and Zack Greinke (113) are all close, while Clayton Kershaw (254) will get there with another dominant season. Simon: Milestones to watch in 2016

D-backs need Tomas to produce

Diamondbacks would benefit from DH

Wanting to give Yasmany Tomas regular at-bats in 2016, Arizona plans to utilize the slugger in right field. If the team had the option to use a designated hitter, however, Tomas could play there and maybe Ender Inciarte wouldn't have been traded. DH candidates for NL teams

D-backs, Pollock close to a deal?

Multiyear extension talks between Arizona and OF A.J. Pollock might be off the table, but the team still needs to sign the 28-year-old to a one-year contract in order to avoid arbitration. That deal might be coming soon. MLB rumors roundup
