Comeback loss a rarity for White Sox

Chicago's bullpen gave up seven runs to Kansas City in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday to lose 8-7. The White Sox, now in their 116th big league season, had previously lost only one game in which they led by at least a half-dozen runs in the ninth, Elias Sports Bureau reports. And even in that game, played on Sept. 21, 2013 at Detroit, the Sox saw their opponent merely tie the game with a six-run ninth before the Tigers won it in the 12th.

Stats & Info

Saturday's longest home runs

A pair of Athletics had big blasts on Saturday, as Danny Valencia's 451-foot home run led the way while Billy Butler's 443-foot bomb -- his first HR of the season -- ranked third.

White Sox a match for Edwin Encarnacion?

If the Blue Jays fall far enough back in the standings to sell at this year's trade deadline, Jim Bowden sees the White Sox as a logical fit for the slugging Encarnacion. The Padres' Melvin Upton Jr. could be another target. Top trade candidates, best fits (Insider)

43-pitch inning for Chris Sale in the third. Four. Three. Not a typo.

Two-out walk to Jose Ramirez bites Chris Sale as the Indians go up 2-1 after Mike Napoli's triple; Ramirez worked Sale for 10 pitches, getting three balls on sliders. Great AB with big repercussions.

Fun thing about Adam Eaton's fifth career lead off home run, I was talking to White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson about Eaton's power spike last season, and about how that's going to remain part of Eaton's game. Stay tuned.
