FPI confident in Trojans, Tide and Rebels

It's not surprising that Baylor and TCU are top-five teams in the Football Power Index, but our forward-looking metric still thinks very highly of USC, Alabama and Ole Miss.

Behold the new Elvis Jabberdog Brownie

The Rangers are playoff bound and have some aggressive food items for the postseason. This is a two-foot long brownie rolled in Rice Krispies crust, dipped in funnel cake batter and fried and costs $26, it is presumably named after SS Elvis Andrus and not Presley, although the singer might have approved.

An all-time comeback for Texas

The Rangers overcame an eight-game deficit in the AL West in early August to win the division. Only four teams in the last 40 years have come back from a bigger hole in that same time frame (Elias).

Tim MacMahon ESPN Staff Writer

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle called the job first-year Rangers manager Jeff Bannister has done guiding Texas' worst-to-first turnaround in the AL West "absolutely tremendous." Added Carlisle: "I can’t help but feel great for the Rangers, but Jeff Bannister’s story is a very compelling one. He came in as a guy who was given an opportunity and Jon Daniels had a hunch about him. They had the tough start early, but Jeff’s a guy that’s an energetic believer. He kept those guys going. It’s been remarkable, and they have a real chance."
