DALLAS Teams

The details that have emerged surrounding Baylor sicken me, but I'm encouraged by the women who were brave enough to come forward and force not only Baylor to acknowledge what happened, but every campus in the country. The firing of Art Briles made the statement that these women and the safety of others are more important than winning -- something that should go without saying, but every single coach and athletic administrator needs to hear. Don't let this happen again.

Spoke with a Baylor football player. He said he's heard defensive coordinator Phil Bennett will be the interim coach, but players have not been officially informed yet. They're expected to have a team meeting next week - when Baylor players return to campus - to discuss the plan moving forward.

I really hope this change is seen through at Baylor. From university release: "A centralized hub of student conduct information will provide a level of "early warning" for those students who are at risk or who may place others at risk. The university will ensure the accountability of employees by making clear the violation of reporting obligations could be cause for discharge. Additionally, processes will be put in place to ensure all instances of interpersonal violence, regardless of where they originate, will be evaluated under the Title IX office."

The importance of Tony Romo

We all know the Cowboys are better with their starting QB on the field, but the statistical effect is jarring. Dallas has won 59.1 percent of its games since 2011 when Romo starts, compared to 7.1 percent when he doesn't.

Baylor is expected to fire Art Briles but the use of "football coaches and staff" in the Findings of Fact report released by the university makes me think there could (or should) be more members of the staff let go.
