The Mavs have no plans to target Dwight Howard or Bismack Biyombo at this point after missing out on Hassan Whiteside, a source told ESPN.com. As has been the case for months, the Mavs' stance on Howard is that their interest depends on his price tag plummeting far below a maximum contract.

The bright side of Dallas' max offer to Hassan Whiteside being declined early Friday morning: The board hasn't been picked clean, as it was when DeAndre Jordan changed his mind and reneged on his commitment to the Mavs last season. Available bigs who fit the younger, more athletic mold the Mavs are seeking include Bismack Biyombo, Festus Ezeli and Ian Mahinmi. Dwight Howard, the Mavs' top target in 2012, is also on the market. So is Zaza Pachulia, the Mavs' primary starting center last season.
