David Ash won't return against TCU
The school announced in a release Sunday night that Ash continues to make progress in recovering from his concussion, but he will not be available when the Longhorns play TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
According to Texas head athletic trainer Kenny Boyd, Ash will continue to be evaluated and monitored daily. There is no timetable for his return, though Texas will not permit him to resume practicing until he goes at least seven days without concussion-related symptoms.
The junior suffered a concussion on Sept. 7 against BYU and has played in three games this season. He hasn't played football in the past month after symptoms forced Ash to exit Texas' Sept. 21 win against Kansas State at halftime.
In his place, senior Case McCoy is expected to make his fourth start of the season. He's passed for 764 yards with four touchdowns and one interception this season and is 2-1 as a starter.
Texas is expected to get two key defensive starters back in time to take on the Horned Frogs.
