There's a lot of talk about the Rangers ownership changes and who might be buying the club. Three potential buyers will be in town the next few weeks to find out more about the club as the process of finding a new owner has centered on three different groups.
Only one of those, at this point, includes Nolan Ryan as a potential minority owner (Ryan is backing Chuck Greenberg from Pittsburgh). But if it's not Greenberg, don't you think the other two owners have to reach out and offer Ryan some minority ownership?
Jim Reeves of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram questioned the fact that Ryan isn't included in the process the next few weeks as the owners come into town. I find it strange too, but maybe because he knows Greenberg, it's best to keep him out of things at this point. But that doesn't mean once the decision gets a little closer that Dennis Gilbert or Jim Crane (the other two prospective owners) won't take Ryan aside and make sure that he knows they want him to stay.
I can't imagine an owner coming in and not keeping Ryan. What a public relations nightmare and a bad business decision. Ryan is a main reason this club looks like it has a bright future. Keeping him as president and offering him a piece of the team just seems like the prudent thing to do.
