Pitcher Tommy Hunter is scheduled to appear at Sleep Experts' Share the Warmth Blanket Drive Kick-Off Event on Monday, Nov. 2 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. CST at the Sleep Experts Arlington Highlands store at I-20 and Matlock Road in Arlington. Fans are invited to drop off blankets to benefit North Texas domestic violence shelters, including SafeHaven of Tarrant County, The Family Place in Dallas, New Beginning Center in Garland, and Denton County Friends of the Family. Sleep Experts will be collecting blankets now through Thanksgiving at all of its 34 locations. Scott Feldman is slated to participate in this program leading up to the holidays.
Rangers Vice President of In-Park Entertainment Chuck Morgan is scheduled to give a presentation at VideoFest 22 at 7:00 p.m. CST on Friday, Nov. 6 at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station. RHP Danny Gutierrez was named the Arizona Fall League Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday, earning a pair of victories over 2 starts in the previous week... Gutierrez has made 3 appearances for the Surprise Rafters, going 2-0, 2.08 (2 ER/8.2 IP) with 7 strikeouts...the 6-foot-1 right-hander has limited opposing hitters to a .161 (5-31) average...RHP Brennan Garr has strung together 4 consecutive scoreless outings, a span of 4.2 innings, lowering his AFL ERA to 3.18 (2 ER/5.2 IP) in 5 relief appearances... LHP Matt Harrison made his 2nd AFL start on Tuesday, suffering the defeat in a 7-6 Surprise loss to Phoenix and the 2009 draft's first overall selection Stephen Strasburg...Harrison allowed a pair of runs in 2.0 innings of work, while recording 2 strikeouts... RHP Tanner Scheppers appeared in relief on Tuesday and recorded 2 strikeouts, raising his AFL total to 8 K's in 7.0 innings of work...OF Mitch Moreland had a pair of hits Tuesday and is batting .333 (10-30) with 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 8 games with the Rafters.
In other Winter League action, INF Joaquin Arias is batting .290 (9-31) with a double and 3 RBI for Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League... C Max Ramirez has hit 3 home runs in his first 15 games for Tiburones de La Guaira, tied for 6th-best in the Venezuelan Winter League... RHP Luis Mendoza has made 3 starts for Obregon of the Mexican Winter League, going 2-1, 3.78 (7 ER/16.2 IP) with 11 strikeouts against 3 walks.
