FRISCO -- Stars center Mike Modano (cracked ribs) and winger Jere Lehtinen (intercostal muscle) both practiced Thursday and are expected to skate with the team Friday. After that, a decision will be made on whether one or both will play against Florida.
The Stars have back-to-back games with the second one coming in Nashville on Saturday. Coach Marc Crawford said he doesn't think both players are ready to play in both games.
"We're anxious to see what they can do, but we want to use the better part of caution," Crawford said.
Other notes:
Brad Richards (groin), James Neal (groin) and Brenden Morrow (hip flexor) were off Thursday. All three are scheduled to play Friday, and Crawford said the club was just being careful to make sure they got their rest.
Crawford said each goalie will start Friday and Saturday. "But I won't tell you which one will get which game yet," Crawford said. Backup goalie Alex Auld is 2-0-1 with a 3.31 GAA in his three starts. He's been steady enough that Crawford hasn't had to worry about trying to play Marty Turco in back-to-back games.
