I think it's good the Dallas Stars are starting Alex Auld on Saturday night in Nashville, at least that's the plan. He did not look good at all in the first period of Friday's 6-5 shootout loss to Florida. But few Stars players looked very good in the first 15 minutes of that game as Dallas fell behind, 3-0.
Despite all of that, Auld played better in the final period and was good in overtime. I'd like to see how he responds. With Marty Turco recovering from flu-like symptoms, Auld has to get it done. Could the Stars play Matt Climie? Sure. But I wouldn't. Dallas needs Auld to get some confidence. Turco can't go every night. The team has to feel like it has a solid backup that can go out and keep the team in games. Auld has a chance to show that tonight.
