FRISCO -- Stars coach Marc Crawford said Mike Modano hurt his rib in Saturday's game and that he will get some X-rays on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. Modano did not practice Sunday, but did get treatment.
"Right at the end of the game, he was speared to get a loose puck away from him and it hit him exactly right or exactly wrong," Crawford said. "He'll have a scan tomorrow and we'll see where it's at."
Crawford was surprised Modano felt OK to take a penalty shot. Modano wasn't on the bench when the shootout started, so the Stars used James Neal as the first shooter (Crawford was planning on Modano). When Modano returned to the bench, he said he could shoot, so Modano was the fourth in the shootout lineup.
Center Brad Richards (groin) did not practice. Crawford said that was just maintenance and making sure he was rested.
Forward Jere Lehtinen (hip/groin) practiced on Sunday. But Crawford said there was an "outside chance," Lehtinen would play Tuesday in Edmonton. Later in this week's road trip seems more likely for Lehtinen's return.
