Elvis Andrus has flexor tendinitis

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus has flexor tendinitis, which the club said is localized soreness in his forearm, and will not play in games for the next few days while the area calms down.

Andrus said he's had forearm soreness for a few days, but isn't concerned.

"It's the first offseason where I didn't play winter ball," Andrus said. "I knew it would take longer to get ready."
