Ryan Garbutt fined for spearing

DALLAS -- Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt was fined $1,474.36 -- the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement -- by the NHL for spearing Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry during Game 5 of the first-round series on Friday night.

Garbutt was skating to the bench on a line change at 9:11 of the first period when he speared Perry as an official looked on. Garbutt was ejected and the Stars had to try to kill off a five-minute major penalty.
